Seattle Prospects

The always interesting annual Prospects post by Alan Caldwell is up. Most interesting to me is the number of players we have listed and especially the goaltenders (3).

The post can be found here.

I did not realize we had so many US born players. Hopefully some of those guys join the birds, especially Zucker, he had great numbers for 40 games, just think what he could put up in a WHL season of 72 games.

I wouldn't count on seeing Zucker. He's the leader of his college team, and the NHL team that drafted him still has a year or two to sign him.

I agree with you on Zucker, and I am all for education but wouldn't it be better for his developement if he went to the WHL for the 72 games + playoffs?Of course we are talking Seattle so no guarantee on the playoffs.

I know that arguement about getting ready for the grind of a long NHL season is made often with college kids, but there are plenty of successful NHL players who came from the college ranks and never played a 72 game Major Junior schedule.
