Well, one last chance to get right. They need to play a whole game like they played the third last night, because once again they got killed in the second period.
Ugh, so frustrating. This team is so much better than they've played this series.
Not to take away from Kelowna - they're a damn good team. Which means any little mistake results in a goal for them.
The Birds have been soft on the PK and have been awful defending the back door pass. I think there are a few that Kozun would want back but he is far from the problem.
20's next season. Kozun, Hickman, Honey. On the chance that Hickman gets an AHL contract, I'd take Mac in his place.
I love Honey, but is he ever going to play again? He got dinged in October and hasn't been back yet.
Can someone please explain how the pass leading to the fifth goal for Kelowna was not an offsides pass? It looked like the player passed it from his defending goal across both blue lines to his teammate who got behind the defender. I can't remember if the T-Birds were on the power play or not, but if they were would offsides get waived off for the short-handed team? Did a T-Bird touch it along the way to negate the offsides? I was confused about that because it seems like that is exactly the play that the offsides rule is trying to prevent.
The play where Kelowna scored their 5th goal was not off side because the puck crossed the t bird's blue line before the player did . This rule does not change when the team is short handed.
I think the 20's next season are Kozun, Hickman and Henry unless they can pick up a big time scorer. Honey can't be relied upon. Love to have Yak and Mak back but there is no room. Farwell has a lot of trading to do in the off season. He's got to try and get something for Yak, Mak, Wardley, and maybe Honey. Two new imports coming as well plus hopefully the signing of Fabbro. Lots of changes for our t-birds next year. Should be an interesting summer.
Hickman is the only one I'm sure will be back. This team's love of pugilistic players (see Elliot, Mitch) might bring Wardley back on the back end, but Henry brings more offensive upside. Yakko and McKechnie have more offensive upside than they showed this season, and bring some solid forechecking. Honey brings a lot of offensive talent and truculence as well, but that injury is awful worrisome. Kozun had success in the regular season with us, but we've got Mumaugh and Flodell in the system too and they need playing time. And I know you traditionally don't spend an overage spot on an import, but Lippy has back to back 30 goal seasons...can you let that go?
I can't see them bring back a 20 year old d-man when they will already have three 19's. My guess is that it will be Hickman, Kozun and either Yak or Mac.
Lots of good young D-men coming up to, Fabbro, Osterman, Khaira.
