Here is the scouting report on Hauf. He was projected as the 18th best player in the draft and was projected to be selected by Calgary with the 22nd selection in the Mock Draft.
D Jared Hauf, 6-4, 170, Calgary Bronks bantam AAA
Hauf is a raw defenceman who projects to be a shutdown type. He has decent foot speed for such a big kid and is able to close gaps well using his long reach and above-average positioning.
Stats: 33 GP, 4-13-17, 72 PIMs. Hockeyprospect.com ranking: 18

And with our second pick our defense just got a WHOLE lot bigger! I'd say we learned a bit of a lesson. Too small can result in too many injuries.
Interesting that Troock was projected to go last in Rd one last year to Calgary and Seattle selected him 11th. That seems to be working out quite well. Let's hope this one does too.
