Game one of a big road trip

Lets see if the Birds can rebound from two straight disappointing games (losses to Portland and Tri).

First up is Medicine Hat.  They are off to a nice start at 4-1, only giving up 10 goals.

I have been told that Mitch Elliot will be playing tonight, so how many people think tough guys, former teammates, and friends Jacob Doty and Mitch Elliot will have a go to see who is the better fighter.

My guess, the answer is no.

Hopefully a little time off after last Tuesday, all spent on the road, will get the team bonded together and kicked back in gear.

Why did the T-bird goal get waived off? They had just scored it and were waiving it off when my tune-in app decided that was a good time to play 6 commercials in a row.

That was a thrilling finish. Nice job to get the 2 points. Gotta learn how to count on the PK, if you can only see three of the power play guys, you better locate the other 2. The T-birds really need a shut down line/defense pairing to emerge. Need to see if some of the opponents other players can beat you, not just their best line.

Ummm.. Yeah. So whatever I said earlier this week about how 'not one game will be won or lost on account of adding Elliot, etc.'. You can go ahead and scratch that from the record. Nuking up a nice big plate of crow over here. Great win tonight for the Birds! Kudos to Mitch.

Is Delnov injured or was he a healthy scratch

Though it was nice to see the Mitch get the game winner he also took a stupid roughing penalty at 11:39 in the 3rd which let MH get a power play goal that put them up by 1 goal.

Kodi, I don't want to be ticky tacky but it was Sheen who got the penalty giving them a pp according to the whl site.
BIG win for the boys!

I believe it was Elliot and Sheen and a MH player and from what I heard it was perhaps a lopsided call giving MH the advantage, so I don't think I would label that a "stupid penalty". That goes with playing tough and throwing your body around in front of the net - and that applying to all 3 players who go the penalties ont hat play.

I have three things to say:
1-I think Doty really is the heavy weight champ. Elliot is one of the strongest around but Doty just has that extra quickness and aggression in the punches he throws. I am glad I finally got to see that fight happen.

2-Holy crap, Lethbridge has some problems! Barzal is exceeding my expectations by quite a lot. He is actually tied for team lead now I think.

3-I am trying really hard to figure out the U.S. division right now but every team is playing well. The only two teams that have underachieved are Portland and Tri, but both of them beat us, so what does one do with that?
I still say Portland ends up on top this year, but for me the real question is who ends up in last? Here's hoping its the Ams, with Everett finishing fourth behind Spokane.

Still curious which route the Thunderbirds are going to go with the 20's

Seth Swenson = .88 PPG 8 Games
Mitch Elliot = .67 PPG 3 Games
Jesse Forsberg = .50 PPG 2 Games(Injured)
Erik Benoit = .12 PPG 8 Games

We are still heavy on the back end and if Jesse can come back 100% from whatever his injury is it's hard to get rid of a top line defender.

I would think unless he can pick up his scoring that Benoit is the odd man out but considering we never know what the heck Farwell is going to do it's still a crap shoot.

For those curious
Conor Sanvido = .86 PPG

Forsberg has been traded to Moose Jaw for a 3rd round pick in 2015.

Folk traded also (for a 19y/o dmen)

I think it is decent return on both.
for me it also does a few things:
- Bear will now play every game.
- Both Douglas and Wolf can improve a bit slower but will compete for the eight spot when needed.

Kodi:
u think Sanvido would of had the same production here?

I think you mean Foulk. Folk is still here.

yes ....Foulk ...darn bad spelling

Mr Tell:
Nobody can be sure about anything. I mean during the summer when trades were being made I probably would have tried to move Mitch before moving Conor. We as fans though don't know if there were other reasons why they made the moves they did. I do know there are cash incentives if 20's sign a professional deal during the season and Mitch is more likely to sign a deal then Conor is so that might have had something to do with it.
