Another Loss

I got bored of listening to this crapfest about 30 minutes into the game. If anything interesting happened after that you guys will have to tell me about it.

On a brighter note... PLEASE donate to the Ronald McDonald House on my behalf. If you love me or you hate me please support an awesome cause.

At last check... I had only raised about $900 towards my $1500 goal. Help me get there.

The announcers could not figure out why Rob didn't put in Salmon. "Might as well put a stick man in there and put a jersey on them and call them your backup goalie if your never going to play him."

That comment by the announcer was the best line I heard all night.

Maybe they could try Fleming there, they can't seem to make up their mind on where to play him. Or maybe they could use one of the full time D men, teach them what it feels like to be a goalie on this team and maybe that way they will play harder.

The whole team lacks confidence, emotion & most importantly a plan. They can't get out of there own end because they can't win a faceoff & if they do win one all the D men do is shoot it around the boards as hard as they can & most of the time the winger can't get there soon enough & the opposing D man shoots it back in & the cycle starts agian. To me that means there is no coaching or practice done on the most simple of things. I have been a fan for a number of years but watching this last month has been frustrating to say the least. Time to make some chnages at the top & then work down. if coach is back next year I'm guessing we will see a number of players asking to be traded AGAIN. 17 games & counting, lets hope the boys get toghether & play for themselves & not worry about the coach or GM.

I didn't see a single hit by a tbird during the game. How beat down emotionally do you have to be to let kamloops rip you apart and not even get frustrated enough to hit someone? Horrible game on all fronts. I blame the coach for not having the team ready to play, but I also wonder where the team leadership is. The rotating captain thing doesn't seem to be working very well.

I don't think there are enough negative words to describe this year's team. Sad thing is the team has done a good job with promotions and getting nice crowds this season, I would be suprised if half of them even consider coming back... This is truly what the bottom is like. If Russ Farwell really cares about this team he needs to swallow his pride and appoint a GM with some real connections and eye for talent. I'm sure Farwell wants to win but there comes a time when you need to do what is right. Rob Sumner is a quality guy, but the team and the fans quit on him, I just dont know how he still remains behind the bench right now, make a change send a message, the season is already lost. Send a message to the players too, if they don't want to be here send them home. I would take less talented players putting in effort than what we are getting now.
Anyways what I think doesnt matter just words from a depressed fan, wanting something to get behind. It's parents weekend, if you can't play hard for family then you probably shouldn't be playing anymore.

Congratulations T-birds! Wonder influence on a group of young men who have quit on this coaching staff once again!

One question I don't think anybody has mentioned is the financial position the team is in. With Russ as GM you don't have to pay someone. He has stated that the team broke even over the years at Key Arena. This is year 2 at the Showare Center. What is the price they are willing to spend to go out and get a experienced winning coach? Just a thought from a STH going on 19 years now. This without a doubt is the most depressing season ever. Portland games = Boring compared to the old days!

Tyler,
I hope you reach your goal. I want to see you play again this year! The HC is always such a fun event - I hope everyone will show up and cheer the teams on!

I doubt the team ever broke even while playing at KeyArena. I'm sure they were most likely well into the red with that lease. They've probably done well to break even in the two + years in Kent. I wonder to what their budget for a head coach is. Maybe Rob Sumner fits into that slot perfectly.

Actually there are a lot of congratulations to go around. To Farwell and Sumner and the rest of the coaching staff for allowing the situation to get this bad. How inept do you have to be to create a mess like this?

And congratulations to certain players as well. You know who you are. The ones who have given up on their coach, their family, their teammates, and themselves. Don't worry though, this will probably be the only time in your life that you will have a bad boss. Ya right. This might be a good time to start learning some life lessons and learn to become men. Regardless of what happens to Sumner, you are all individually responsible for your lives and the effort you put forth. His crappy system has no bearing on whether you take the body, make good outlet passes, and so forth. I think that you are up against it, but I'm no enabler and I believe in always giving my all to whatever I do. Hopefully your parents will have a similar message for you this weekend. Being a quitter will never get you anywhere in life nor will people respect you.

On a brighter note, Salmon saw some ice!

I wonder if Salmon will see some 3rd period ice time this weekend for his parents when Portland and Spokane start feeling bad when they are up 8-1

Better yet will Farwell and Sumner have the guts to look his parents in the their eye's?
