9 days left....

Posting is going to slow down a little bit her until the start of the season. I have some places to be and things to do leading up to the season. At this point.... there really isn't much else to report on coming out of camp besides the last of the cuts and I will try to update on that when I hear it.

I think it is very interesting how a lot of people on the "white board" are pretty much picking the Tbirds to finish 5th in the division after what they have seen in the preseason. I won't have much time to write a ton of articles between now and next Friday but I will be all over the season opener on Friday and Game 2 on Saturday against the Winterhawks. Opening night is not nearly sold out and that is really a shame... I really hope everyone will rally their friends and sell the thing out.

I'm not surpised of the 5th spot.
Pre-season saw very little of the guys that will be on the ice 80% of the time. It all starts with the
goaltending and works forward. We have the best goalie in Canada and what could be an above average set of blue liners. On offense.. I see as many as five 20+ goal scorers.

2-0 after first couple games...lets see.

I think we are being a bit too much of a homer here.... Goaltending will indeed be our strong suit. But above average blue liners, in the BCHL maybe. And our offense is a toss up, I see potential for Parker, Rai and Jacobs to put in maybe 20..... But when our forwards are forced to play deep in our zone the entire game it makes it difficult to score..... We have been outplayed in this aspect every game in the preseason. Now they certainly could suprise and be a solid team. I just feel Spokane is the best team in the U.S. Division this year, Portland and Tri-Cities will both be above average, and I just see us and Everett trying to get things together.

Looking forward to the season but we aren't bringing back a lot of established talent. Even before Boyer and Richard opted out we were going to be lacking on established offense. Jacobs and Pickard look to be two to build around. Can Farwell do that? I would be happily surprised if he did. Disappointing the number one pick Sanvido can't make the team as a 16yr old, though if he comes back as a legitimate scorer in a year then great. Lots of scorers aren't ready until they gain enough size and strength for the league. I hope that's the situation with him. I also hope Farwell is willing to develop the youngsters and go for a long term rebuild rather than patch work mediocrity as he has in the past.

well said... I would rather suffer one terrible season then too be the definition of average every year. I really feel we should have traded Hickey or O'Brien last year when they had a lot of value. Now we are basically at ground zero.

I say everyone hold their horses. It may take 25-30 games before this team begans to win their share of the games. This is a playoff team and a team that will
have some big wins this year.
The following 2 years could get
pretty fun.

I'm not doubting we can be a playoff team but can you honestly look at this roster right now compare it to the other 9 Western Conference teams and think right now... not 2 years or so from now, but right now that we are going to be anything higher than a 7 seed. We will win some good games, but we will probably lose a lot too.

Been holding my horses for most of the Farwell era. Among our returning players we have the least amount of goal scoring in the league. The most optimistic prediction in this thread has us with 3 20 goal scorers, that's 60 goals over 72 games wow. With that kind of production from our top scorers we'll be sure to make a run, Not! Farwell chose to trade the future for medicority last year by refusing to trade any of our established players, now we face the aftermath and for what? The best thing to come out of this will be a high slot in the bantam draft but can Farwell take advantage of that - maybe but by no means for sure. I seriously long for a new GM. I've seen all I care to see of Farwell. Oh how I wish it was Farewell Farwell. Semper Mediocrity Farwell, only this year he's going to fail at that again. With his "skill" he'll probably cash in on another Durand or Balt or Hanson next year.

Can we please wait for the season
to start before we write these guys
off...

Let's get behind these guys and support them. I think I will make my point when you see what team shows up on Friday. Just say that
I know for now.

I agree wholeheartedly with the Farewell Farwell poster. Mr. Farwell had a golden opportunity to put some butts in the seats and some serious points on the board, but he again failed to look past the end of his nose. Our family of 5 will not be going to any games this year. When we do go to a WHL game, we'll make the trek to Everett. When we visit family in Spokane-we'll go see a game.
It's funny too, he actually has a good staff around him-excellent coaching staff with a lot of experience. He has a great new arena in a city that cares. And yet the man can't see the forest for the trees.

It's really hard to get behind a team when it's players even think they are going to be bad this year. I'm still not going to miss any games but you have to be blind and crazy to think we will be competitive this year..... We will have our good games, but we are going to have a lot more bad one's.
