Pickard carries Seattle...

Seattle got the goaltending they have been looking for last night as Calvin Pickard stopped all 36 Spokane shots he saw and the Tbirds earned a 3-0 win.

With the win Seattle moves one point ahead of Everett and one point behind Kamloops and sit in 6th place in the Conference.

Sena Acolatse's goal stood up as the winner and Jim O'Brien beat Dustin Tokarski with a slap shot blast to give the Tbirds a 2 goal cushion.

Seattle continued their inconsistent play in beating Spokane by 3 just less than 48 hours after losing by 4 in Spokane. With the Tbirds consistently inconsistent again the real story is Pickard.

If Seattle can get that kind of goaltending night in and night out... perhaps they have a chance to play with a little more intensity on a nightly basis.

Until that happens... I just can't get too excited about another win at home. Watch closely to see what kind of effort we get tonight in Portland. If the trend holds... you would expect the Tbirds to struggle tonight in Portland and then come out with another good effort at home tomorrow against Vancouver.

What is the point in having Jacob even dress as backup goalie? He didn't take any shots during warmup and just stood by the red line the entire warmup. How is he suppossed to go into the game if necessary?

I honestly don't have a good answer for you. It is a pretty poorly kept secret at this point that Jake really could not come into the game should Calvin get hurt. I'm not sure if they just weren't able to bring Jahraus in or what... but I think it's pretty clear that Jake can't play.

Macfarlane wasn't really ever an option, I don't think he is even on their list and he was only brought in for visual effect against Vancouver.
